Terms of use
Courtesy translation. Only the Italian version is legally binding.
In force since 25 October 2026
By using RITROVATO you accept these terms. They are written to be read: if anything is unclear, write to us at info@paretoservices.com.
1. The service
RITROVATO is operated by Pareto Services Sagl (see the legal notice). It is free and requires no sign-up.
It lets you:
- search the items found and reported in Ticino;
- create a private alert, to be notified when an item that could be yours turns up;
- report an item you found;
- ask to collect an item.
RITROVATO puts people and offices in touch. It does not hold items, does not check in person who the owner is and is not a party to agreements between finders and owners.
2. Who publishes
Only people who found an item and lost property offices publish listings. People who lost something don't publish listings: they create a private alert.
3. If you found something
- Only report items you really found, with the exact kind of item, place and date.
- Don't write the colour, brand, contents or distinguishing marks in the listing: keep them to yourself. You'll need them to compare with the description from the person claiming the item and recognise the real owner.
- Don't upload photos and don't write other people's data (names, addresses, document numbers).
- Keys, documents, phones, wallets, jewellery and other valuables must always be handed in to the competent lost property office. The site tells you which one.
- If you found the item on public transport or in premises open to the public, hand it in to the service that runs them.
- Reporting on RITROVATO does not replace the legal obligations: if you don't know the owner, you must notify the police (Art. 720 Civil Code).
4. If you ask to collect an item
- Only make a request for your own items, or on behalf of the owner with their consent.
- Describe the hidden details truthfully. Whoever holds the item compares them with the ones they know.
- The finder or the office may refuse the handover if the check isn't convincing.
- Claiming someone else's item is a criminal offence. We cooperate with the authorities in case of abuse.
- The law provides for an appropriate reward for the finder (Art. 722 Civil Code). RITROVATO neither asks for nor collects it: it's a matter between you and the finder.
5. Direct return
For everyday items, the finder and the owner can agree on a handover in person. The digital receipt records the date, time and item. Meet in a public place. RITROVATO does not take part in the meeting and is not liable for what happens during the handover.
6. What is not allowed
- publishing false listings, or listings of items that were sold, stolen or not found;
- using the site for advertising, collecting contacts or mass mailings;
- trying to obtain the hidden details of items or other people's contact details;
- using automated programs to copy content or overload the site.
We may remove listings, alerts or requests that break these rules without notice.
7. Liability
We do our best to keep the site working and the information correct, but we cannot guarantee that an item will be found, that listings are accurate or that the service is always available.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage caused by third-party listings, agreements between users or interruptions of the service. No limitation applies in cases of intent or gross negligence.
8. Changes
We may change these terms. The new version applies from the date shown at the top. Requests already in progress continue under the terms in force when they were made.
9. Applicable law and jurisdiction
Swiss law applies. The place of jurisdiction is Lugano, Switzerland. If you use the service as a consumer and live in another country, the mandatory consumer protection rules and the courts of your country of residence remain available to you.
